Delay on Playbook Software

RIM announced that there would be a delay on the Playbook software. With the holiday season coming up they might lose a lot of sales because Apple just got a better software for the iPad and iPhone and that is their main competitor. RIM plans on releasing the new software for the playbook in February.
RIM doesn't want the PlayBook OS 2.0 out until it is perfect. “As much as we’d love to have it in your hands today, we’ve made the difficult decision to wait to launch BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 until we are confident we have fully met the expectations of our developers, enterprise customers and end-users,” Mr. Smith wrote. I have the iPad 2 and it is a wonderful device and with the new software I believe that they will be the big seller this holiday season.

Before the announcement on July 25th they dropped 52 per-cent on the year. The company said that there would be a variety of different departments being layed-off  but most of the jobs would be in Waterloo, Ontario. The employees would be receiving a package of a few months pay and because of the competition with the other smartphone companies they would be laying-off 17,000 more employees world wide.
